last saturday – we witnessed the most amazing sunset. we could not capture the most awesome part on camera, since we were in the car – but here is a glimpse.

lori had her bridal shower this past weekend. friends and family came from 4 hours away to help her celebrate the final count down to the wedding! she had a ton of fun, and looked amazing! we played games and next time you see lori you will have to ask her about what chris says is his favorite part of her…

only two weeks from today!
scary jerry.
lori and mom came to visit for lori’s last bridal fitting. things went pretty smoothly at the shop and we later met will for dinner at the sushi bar. the animated waitress suggested we indulge ourselves in a little “scarry jerry”. we had no idea what she was referring to, but she pointed to the table beside ours and said: “scary jerry”. the selection on the tray looked amazing. we ordered some.
lori got a shamu roll which was stuffed with fried soft shell crab, it was as big as the plate! everyone tried scary jerry, even mom. it was fantastic!
so will got to take the “jd” out for its first spin yesterday. he finished the entire yard in 1.2 hours, where normally it would take 4. huge improvement.
we also worked in the plant beds for a little bit, repotting our herbs we got the previous weekend. i still can’t believe how incredible the peonies look. this is the second bloomer.
what’s a birthday without cake? we were so stuffed from enoteca the night before we could not even carve up will’s b-day cake. we saved it and had some for dinner last night. happy birtday to you, happy birthday to you!
i had a huge surprise for him. he had no clue. for months he has been mowing our yard (almost an acre) with a push-mower. neighbors have commented – “are you trying to kill him?”. they had no idea what was about to unfold.
will gave me a birthday list with 32 items, on april 4th. items ranged in price from $10 to $10000. i played around with him and told him i could not find any of the smaller $ items on the list, despite my trying several different stores in the area. throwing him completely off track, i ordered him some clothes (a man’s least favorite gift for any occasion) and wrapped them in shoe boxes. he had one other tiny package, some shaving lotion, that really had him wondering.
the morning of his birthday i told him he could open any one package he would like. he picked the shaving lotion, opened it, and acted surprised. i really think he dreaded the fact that the other two boxes were shoes or clothes, and could not possibly be wii games, computer books, a garmin, a grill, or a riding lawn mower – but he was holding out hope and saved those to open after he came home from work.
after he left for work that morning the special present finally arrived. it was ordered on april 8th, and it was killing me to keep a secret from him for 3.5 weeks! i could not wait until he got home, but when he did, the shock and excitement were fantastic!
unveiling will’s new riding lawn mower!
after the shock of the mower wore off he opened his other packages. (he did go back out to the garage just to stare at the mower once more before we got ready for dinner.)
after presents we had to get ready for dinner reservations at will’s favorite place – enoteca vin.
we enjoyed an amazing dinner with a wide variety of wines. our favorites of the evening included a selection of west coast raw oysters, a seafood pot with fresh crab, shrimp, clams, and mussles, a lemon pasta with rabbit sausage, a cheese tray, and of course our favorite pinot noir and reisling selections! throughout the dinner will kept saying – i got a riding mower!
after dinner we needed some sobering up. we headed across the street to helios coffee. we had two amazing drinks – miele and caramella! will could not decide!
all in all he said it was a great day!
the peonies in our front flowerbed are starting to bloom.
herb fest was going on down town. there were hundreds of people flocking to pick up fresh herbs. one day we will have a garden like barefoot contessa.
after we gathered our herbs we headed out to a southern season for lunch. just like being in europe.
the weather was odd this evening. cloud cover was heavy, but the sun wanted to peek through.
here are some pics of wedding flowers for lori’s upcoming event. there will be tons of orchids and various other flowers in hues of lime and celedon.
here is a shot of the orchid that lori and i took to put on her custom stamps for the wedding. they really turned out amazing.
here are some pics of lori’s bridesmaid’s boquet samples.
here is a pic of the centerpiece idea.
i know. its february. i honestly forgot about this little blog. poor neglected little thing. here are some pics from nye.

dad came to wake forest to fly out of RDU for his birthday. he arrived at 10:30pm and we called sisters to have a three way speaker phone bithday party.
he opened his present and read his card.
he exclaimed: “i got an i-pod!”
i showed him how to turn it on.
then he tested it out.
three way conference call singing happy birthday is not a pretty sound, but dad enjoyed it anyways. then we shared his boston creme birthday cake before he had to run off to sleep!
beth and mike came and brought james this past weekend. we had a great time at vollmer farm pumpkin patch in bunn.
